Frans Heesen founded the company that bears his name in 1978. He took over an existing shipyard in Oss Harbour, Netherlands and founded Heesen Yachts. Since this time, Heesen has built and delivered well over 150 yachts.

Heesen Yachts is the first shipyard to build a yacht featuring the innovative fast displacement hull form (FDHF).
The fast displacement hull form FDHF incorporates design features that have a large effect on hydrodynamic resistance over the whole speed range, such as the area of the immersed transom, bulbous bow, trim control and spray rails.

Heesen Yachts’ facility in 0ss, Netherlands is over 4.4 hectares, has nine sheds and five dry docks. Each year, over four million parts are meticulously used in the construction of up to eight yachts.

In 2013 Heesen Yachts built the world’s first fast displacement yacht, the 65m M/Y Galactica Star, boasting the revolutionary FDHF and a top speed of 28.8 knots.
2014 saw Heesen build the 42m M/Y Alive, the first yacht in the world to harness kinetic energy and their largest megayacht to date the 70m M/Y Kometa.
